RYA First Aid

This course runs from 09:00 to 18:00, and includes breaks for lunch, tea and coffee.


This marine-based first aid course is suitable for those who may need to administer first aid in a watersports & boating environment. The course includes the latest first aid manual, and is a pre-requisite for all RYA instructor courses.

By the end of the course you should be able to perform CPR, control bleeding, reconise and treat shock and put people in the recovery position.

You should also understand the treatments for cold shock and hypothermia, and be aware of the general treatment for breathing difficulties, anaphylaxis, hyperthermia, chest pain, seasickness, diabetic emergency, fractures, seizures and burns.

The course also covers the selection of suitable first aid equipment for a boat, how to summon medical asistance and advice, and how to prepare for the evacuation of a casualty by helicopter.

What to bring

This is a long classroom based course - wear comfortable clothes suitable for sitting, kneeling and lying down while you practice giving and receiving first aid. You may wish to bring a drink with you, or you can buy drinks, and hot and cold food from our caterers.
