RYA Start Racing

Timing

This 2 day course runs from 09:30 until 17:00 on either two consecutive Saturdays or over a weekend.

Teaching

You will learn and develop a range of skills required for understanding dinghy racing and getting out onto the race course for the first time. An experienced RYA Racing Instructor will take you through the race signals and start sequence, how to start a race and sail the course, mark roundings, racing rules, tactics and boat tuning.

The course is usually sailed in our fleet of XD equipped Lasers, and engages the budding competitors in a range of exercises designed to build skills and confidence through practice.

By the end of the course you should have the confidence and skills to venture out to try Club Racing for the first time.

Prior to attending this course you should have comfortably mastered the skills learnt on the Level 2 and be confident in a Laser dinghy.
