RYA Level 2: Basic Skills

Timing

This weekend course runs from 09:30 until 17:00 both days.

Teaching

All of our courses are taught by RYA qualified instructors in groups with a maximum ratio of 6 students to each instructor.   Teaching takes place on the water and in the classroom and we move between the two depending on the group, the weather conditions and the requirements of the curriculum.

The RYA Level 2: Basic Skills course at Queen Mary assumes that the student has previously acheived the RYA Level 1: Start Sailing certificate. This course builds on the skills learned, introduces new ones and supports you along the way to becoming an independant sailor.

By the end of the course you should be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of sailing and be capable of sailing without an instructor on board in light winds. You will be awarded the RYA Level 2 certificate on successfully completing and understanding the modules of the RYA Level 2 syllabus from the National Sailing Scheme.
